You don't need an account to play Makas. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Stored on your device. A randomly generated anonymous ID, your answers, streak, profile, and your language and sound settings. These stay on your device only (localStorage).
Stored on our server. Total vote counts per dilemma, totals per country, how profile types are distributed, and the daily visitor count. To stop the same person voting twice on a dilemma, what each anonymous ID chose on each dilemma is kept for one year. The ID is never linked to anything that identifies you.
Your IP address is not stored. To prevent abuse, a one-way hash of your IP address is kept for at most 60 seconds. Country and approximate city come from our host Vercel, based on the connection. The city is only used in the site owner's live visit notification and is not stored.
No cookies. Visit statistics use Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Service providers. Vercel (hosting and analytics), Upstash (vote database, Frankfurt), ntfy.sh (notifications to the site owner) and Google Fonts (typefaces).
Deleting your data. Clearing your browser data removes everything on your device. Server totals can't be linked to a person, so they can't be deleted one by one; anonymous vote records expire after one year.
